Pre-reg has started and it’s been quite tiring cos I haven’t gotten used to working for the whole day. Too used to slacking during the holidays, or university life where there’s a lot of free time in-between stuff in the day.

Well, I’ve been mostly packing the medicine to familiarize myself with the stock and where they’re kept. And also with the computer system, and protocols.

I taught a patient how to use a salbutamol inhaler today! Hopefully he understood everything Cos he’s a bit old. And I’ve got a prescription for my assignment on interventions.

Ok la, the workload is manageable. Cos clementi is not as busy as some other polyclinics. Still a rush when the stuff comes in all at once. Now there are 3 year 2s around doing their preceptorship, and another pharmacist who came over cos her outlet was undergoing renovations. Without them, things will be busier I think.

The staff are all quite friendly. Sigh, hope I can remember most of the things I’m taught

With every move of God, the devil will always try to attack the church, or at least members of the flock. If you’re untouched by the devil, it just means that you’re of no threat to him. If no one is criticizing you, it means you’re not doing anything great.

After a great asia conference, comes news of investigations into my church’s finances. Because apparently someone complained of misappropriation of funds. Well, all I can say is that… it’s expected.

And it doesn’t matter to me. My loyalty will always lie with the house of God. I believe that the pastors are people of integrity. And if someone really did something wrong with the money, or is found guilty, then let God deal with him.

The money I give, I give as unto the Lord. Whatever happens to the money after it leaves my hand, is not really my business anymore. So even if something wrong is really found, I’ll still keep giving. Because I trust that God is a just God.

So actually, it’s kinda exciting, maybe a little warped, to know that we’re still a threat to the devil. But out of all this, we will emerge stronger.

Well, firstly, thank God for strength and a sound mind during AC. It was tiring, cos served for all sessions, but glad to serve in a small way.

Next, thank God for my exam results! It’s the best results I’ve gotten since year 1, I think. Even though it can’t change my honors, but thank God, at least I know I can still study and get results

I had dinner with jieyun and jingxuan tonight. More like supper, but it was dinner cos none of us ate dinner before that. We met at al-azar opposite beauty world at 8.30pm. We had a fun time talking and eating

Since I drove, and jieyun wanted to go dou fong, she suggested we go see the new double helix bridge near the marina bay IR. So we drove past it on the new flyover.

Then we drove past the IR. It’s the first time I’ve seen the new IR, even though it’s been up for some time. Jingxuan commented that don’t know why but whenever s’pore does something that other countries have, like build a casino, it doesn’t seem to look as good. Hahaha…

Then we decided to go to the marina barrage! Yay… Finally get to go there, and it’s at night! So we drove the long winding route into the barrage, and walked up. It’s quite nicely built. I always thought that the barrage was at sea-level, but it’s actually elevated, so need to walk up the winding slope structure.

There were quite a few kites, some of which flew quite high. And interestingly, some kites had lights on their strings! Like christmas lights… so can see who the kite flier was cos can track the string

We sat at the barrage, facing the lights of the city. S’pore is actually quite pretty at night, with all the lights and stars. We talked, lay down to look at the stars… it looked and felt like the omni-theatre. It’s like a sea of black sky with specks of stars, engulfing us in it’s awesome presence. Surreal experience. Haha.. wished I could just lie there and stare at the sky for ages.

Not a bad place for a wedding, but have to set up a tent with all the equipment and stuff, and think it’ll be quite expensive. Oh well…

Yep, nice place to go and relax

I think I’m getting better at understanding her when she speaks Even though she’s korean, she speaks English to us for her to relate better with us. And she’s so full of joy and the life of God… What a wonderful woman.

She spoke to us this weekend about the 4 things God dislikes.

1. God dislikes when we stop trying

2. God dislikes regret

3. God dislikes waste

4. God dislikes ungratefulness

Haha… very applicable to me in this season. But she’s very encouraging. Haha.

I wasn’t supposed to serve today in chorus board. But was smsed last minute this morning to do director cos the director MIA again. Struggled to accept cos I woke up twice last night, so was really tired and grouchy. But well, since I did tell God that He could mold my character last night, I guess He just worked super fast.

My wonderful boyfriend kept encouraging me on the way to church via sms. And I met jie yun at the bus stop at tanah merah, who also encouraged me. She’s a good buddy, and I look up to her So decided to just serve and push away the negative attitude which plagued me for the longest time.

And yep, serving God is a joy if you’re not resentful (since it’s one of the things God dislikes haha). And thank God, He did let me receive from the Word even while I was serving. And since I had a script, it was easier to understand Dr Kim! Hahaha!

Ok la, God is good

And thank God, terence and anna for the ride after service

But first, study study study!

Encourage, encourage, encourage! Encourage means speaking good things. Build courage instead of putting in why it cannot be done. Speak positively of people and believe the best out of them. Like what pastor phil said, sometimes we may not know people’s motives for doing things, but just believe that they have a purpose for doing the things they do. Positive, positive, positive! Love, love, love! Meditate on the Word (Means discipline! Which I rather lack.). Been going on a negative spiral the past week or more. Became rather addictive. Time to break out of it. First, I’ll change the words I speak, to myself and to others. Now! Now! Now!

Sound a bit psychotic. Oh well. Change!! Change!! Change!!

Luke 10:38-42

38 Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”
41 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

—-

I can’t remember when was the last time when I was just so excited about the things of God. Looking forward to every prayer meeting, every cell group meeting, every church service. All those things were the highlights of my week. Every touch from God, every new revelation, was precious.

And it was easy to be on fire for God, because everyone around me was the same. Some have gone on to become leaders. Well, that was precisely why I decided to stay in city harvest church in the first place. Because it was a great place to grow.

I don’t want to be so caught up in serving that the reason why I “need” to go to church is because I need to book seats, or I need to serve in my ministry, or because I need talk to people to make them feel welcomed in church. It gets very disturbing when people stop talking about how excited they are to hear the word from Pastor, or how amazing the presence of God was at service. Even more disturbing is it when people don’t talk about their walk with God or new revelations they have. Maybe it’s just me, but I seem to hear less of these things now.

In the past when I first came, it was a norm to go for an extra service on saturday, especially when there are guest speakers, or if pastor is going through a series. Maybe it’s because the preachers will share a different message each day. But people in the cell would just go for service together, and we’d be excited about it.

It’s a tendency to grow complacent as we are more familiar with things. But I feel we shouldn’t allow this. Like what Pastor said a few weeks back, there’s a risk we could end up doing what the Ephesian church did and lose our first love. It takes more than one person to ensure this doesn’t happen. Can we do it together?

This might sound controversial, but it’s just my view on things. I feel that people shouldn’t be allowed to serve excessively unless they walk close to God and are hungry for Him. The key word is excessively. How do you know you are serving excessively? When before service, you think about how many seats you are supposed to get later. All your mind focuses on during praise & worship is when people will come and fill the seats, how to hold the seats for your cell, how are you going to find people etc. That’s if you’re not serving in a ministry. If you’re serving in a ministry, then excessive is when you need to serve 6 weeks in a row and the week you’re not serving, you need to do recruitment (sounds familiar).

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to serve the people and build God’s house, because you love people. However if you don’t have a hunger for God and His presence, rhema, and fellowship, then there’s no point. How can you look forward to receiving from God, when your mind is everywhere else during service? I admit, someone has to do the seat booking and everything else that needs to be done. But it’s just the attitude, that the person doing it doesn’t forget that the reason why we go to church in the first place is to meet God.

If we’re hungry for God, we receive more from Him. And that is precisely what we need to serve others better.

I had to counsel the “patient” in chinese, even after telling her my chinese wasn’t too good and requesting to counsel in english But I must say, it was quite a fun and challenging experience.

The “patient” had constipation and wanted to buy medicine from my pharmacy.

Well, think I’ll get better with practice
